If you think that the current Blu-ray disc is the best then you might be out of date because Pionner has unveiled its 16-layer optical disc that is able to store a huge 400GB worth of data. The Pioneer disk is based on Blu-ray Disc (BD) with a breakthrough in material of reflective layers. The specifications of the pick-up head (PUH) of the disc is the same as those for the PUH of blank BD discs, so the Pioneer discs can be read on BD players that are in the market. Pioneer will release its read-only (ROM) 400GB discs in 2008 to 2010, meanwhile rewritable 400GB discs will make a debut in 2010 to 2012 and the 1TB capacity disc in 2013. If you are tired of your current laptop becoming obsolete after a few years, then it is time you joined the Laptop4Life program. This program, created by Fujitsu, allows the user to get a new laptop free every three years. In order to qualify for this three-year program, a user will have to do three things: 1) Save the receipt, which most people do out of caution anyway. Maybe a Laptop4Life member should just keep it in their wallet or purse. 2) A user will also need to keep the laptop in good condition, presumably so it can be recycled. 3) Purchase a 3 year extended warranty, but I don’t have a price for this. SK Telecom of Korea will be offering the Pantech Presto, a touchscreen capable phone that offers a literal one-touch access to music playback, hence its name. Other features of the Pantech Presto include :- T-DMB TV tuner 3G HSPA radio support Bluetooth connectivity Memory card slot Pre-loaded electronic dictionary It will retail for approximately $560 in South Korea, with no word on whether the Presto will make a magical appearance outside of that country. Many people generally associate Black Friday as a time to buy big electronics such as HDTVs, GPSs, gaming consoles, computers, etc. But, it is also a time to buy interesting little gadgets to make your children, or even yourself, happy. I decided to take a look at a lesser-known store, KB Toys, and see what they were offering this Black Friday. I didn’t go straight for their big stuff, but rather their smaller gadgets, and here’s what I found pretty interesting. Spider-Man accessories He’s got a great comic book, a great movie, and has some pretty cool accessories. KB Toys has a bunch of Spider-Man stuff and a few gadgets that caught my eye was a mp3 player and a Plug-n-Play gaming system. The MP3 player is something I wouldn’t recommend getting if you want store a lot of media and videos, but if you want to give it you child who really likes Spider-Man, I’m sure they would enjoy this very much. In terms of specs, it comes with 512mb of storage, and can be expanded by 1GB (at the most) via SD card, and requires 1 AAA battery. This sold for $49.99, but now sells for $29.99. Ah, there’s nothing quite like a leak when it comes to new updates and even software titles. The blackberry Storm is not immune to this “phenomenon” either, with its latest firmware 4.7.0.75 already available on the Internet. Generally, initial reports seem favorable, so if you happen to stumble across this leaked update, do so at your own peril. Those who prefer a less adventurous life can always settle for the official update to be released.
