Basically, the box will still be doing its regular job of pushing through your favorite video, but instead of just streaming it to your specified hardware (like your PC notebook) via the web, it will actually be available on the web. Slingbox on the web leads the new site’s features. The site also streams free TV episodes, user clips, and full-length movies from over 90 channels and media content providers. As we expected, the Eee PC 1002HA has begun showing up with US based retailers.  The 1002HA appears to be replacing the now fast dwindling 1000H and is retailing for around $500.  Of course, as of now, these listings are simply for pre-order but they are expected to begin shipping shortly.  The Eee PC 1002HA offers the nice brushed metal design that is found on the S101 and as for features it has a 10-inch display, 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n.  Based on the specification listing it seems the one item that is lacking is built-in Bluetooth.  Otherwise, another potential drawback is that it is shipping with a small 2-cell battery.  If you are looking for something with similar specs and a larger battery, you can always check out the 1000HA, that model is available for around $430 and ships with a 6-cell battery. Technology is often blamed for the degradation of the traditional family unit (See: gory video games and internet addiction.) So it’s good to hear of a gadget that’s actually bringing families together instead of separating them. But I didn’t expect that gadget to be the pedestrian, jittery webcam. According to a story in the New York Times, one of the growing trends in parenting is the use of webcam babysitting by, of all people, previously technophobe grandparents. If you think about it, this trend makes a lot of sense. Those who use webcams best use its video feed for constant surveillance or consistent live reports of their lives. Precision Pocket Scale. Sounds useful, right? Actually, no. Who on Earth would want to carry a scale around in their pocket? It gets worse. The scale is built into a mouse. A two button, scrolling optical mouse, rechargeable via USB cable. Now, a scale is useful for many things –baking, weighing the mail, dividing up cocaine – but not many of those, except the rather illegal latter, needs to be done on the go. No matter how hard we try, we can’t come up with any real use for this overpriced piece of junk. Other than the drug angle, of course, which might explain the 0.1 gram (0.004 ounce) sensitivity. Nerdy, convergence drug-dealers can buy this from American Weigh (hoho) and undoubtedly very soon from the head shop in your local strip-mall. Apple encourages the widespread use of multiple antivirus utilities so that virus programmers have more than one application to circumvent, thus making the whole virus writing process more difficult.

Is your conscience so dead that you can’t be bothered what happens to the environment, as long as your entire house is air-conditioned around the clock? We first saw the reports that the Nokia N85 would be heading to the US a few months back and now it looks like it has almost made an appearance.  Well, technically it is available for you to purchase.  However it is currently listed with a 2 to 4 week shipping time, so it will be a little while before you will have it in-hand.  The listed N85 comes in Copper and is unlocked for use in the US.  The one drawback here is the price—$555.59.  Of course, while it sounds expensive, it really is not out of the normal price range for unlocked phones, it is also much nicer looking than the $1,200 list price.  Given that, it almost seems like you are getting a bargain.  Just as a refresher, the Nokia N85 features a 5-megapixel camera, GPS, Wi-Fi and has a 2.6-inch AMOLED QVGA display.  It is also running S60 and has support for 3G. LaCie has a new USB flash drive that comes in the form of a coin, and has been dubbed the CurrenKey for wordplay with the origin of its design. The entire exterior is made out of metal to help it look as close to its namesake as possible, and is connected to a computer via USB 2.0. The 4GB model will come with a bronze exterior while the larger 8GB model takes on a silver approach, retailing from $19.99 upwards. Hopefully you won’t mistake this for an actual coin when you’re in a hurry, or otherwise your precious data will also disappear along with the CurrenKey itself, accompanied by a bunch of other coins.
