Sony Ericsson has launched two new HSPA USB modems, the M400 and M400g. With these two new modems in tow, mobile professionals can have 7.2Mb/s download and up to 2.0Mb/s upload speeds just by plugging the modem into their notebooks. These two modems are said to be simple and quick to install and provide internet access every time users need to connect to the internet where ever they maybe. And to make these two modems even more special, Sony Ericsson has put a M2 Memory Stick Micro and a microSD slot into the already useful devices.

Here’s a rundown of these two modems features; built-in antenna complementing an additional swivel “Diversity” antenna for maximum reception performance and data transmission, built-in GPS receiver and GPS utility (for the MD400g only) with links to Google maps, PlayNow shortcut link, auto-install and auto configuration.

The two modems will be available in ebony and white colors sometime in the 4Q of 2008.

Yes, that’s right, after months of hype build-up, it looks like the web infrastructure of Mozilla.com did crack under the pressure. While is this a tribute to their success, we think that it would have been wise to use a CDN like Akamai, at least for this day. Anyhow, the attempt at breaking the download world record might be in jeopardy if the site does not come back soon. Good luck to our Mozilla friends!

While AMD has been making headway with some impressive high-end processors, Intel’s Atom has been all the rage in netbooks and ultra-portables. You didn’t think they were going to just sit around and let that happen, did you? This supposedly leaked slide (for which we couldn’t verify a source) details a single-core 64-bit processor dubbed “BGA CPU” that runs at 1GHz, utilizes DDR2-400 memory, and sports on-chip L1 & L2 caches. As for size, you’re looking at 27 x 27 mm (1.06-inches square). All said, the chip’s 8-watt thermal footprint isn’t going to win any super-portable or MID manufacturer converts. We’ll keep an eye on this.

The advertisement you see on the right appears to come from a German phone shop that has a wide range of new handsets for the discerning consumer to choose from, and among them wouuld be the upcoming Nokia 5800 handset. Also known as the “Tube”, this cell phone will boast the revised S60 Touch user interface which won’t knock the wind out of the iphone’s sails, but is a step forward for the Finnish cell phone manufacturer. There is no word on an official price yet, but the Nokia 5800 is tipped to be released sometime in the second half of this year.

The Flybook V5 mini-notebook has finally made its way to the US a few months after hitting Europe, but one major obstacle stands in its way in the quest for market domination - the insanely high price tag of $3,000. That’s a bold promise AMD. Nevertheless, a cinema-realistic gaming experience is exactly what they demonstrated yesterday in San Francisco. Cinema 2.0, according to AMD, is “a milestone achievement in ultra-realistic and interactive visual computing.” Perhaps, but then the marketing-speak launches into unnecessary hyperbole with AMD calling its new teraFLOPS chip at the heart of the demo — the RV770 GPU — “more powerful than every generation of game console every brought to market combined.” Really AMD? Last we counted there were about 13 million Cell processors scattered across the PS3 terra firma. But we’ll assume that you’re referring to a mythical mashup of a singular PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PS2, etc. with a little Magnavox Odyssey sprinkled on top. Still, you might find the hype warranted when you realize that the demonstration was powered by a single PC loaded with a pair of (future) consumer-grade AMD RV770 graphics cards, Phenom X4 9850 processor, and 790FX chipset.
