I’ve already discussed free hosting and virtual private servers in the past. Now, it is the time to discuss dedicated hosting.

Well, a dedicated hosting is an Internet hosting service in which a client takes over the control of a server provided by the hosting provider and this server is not shared with any other customer. So, only one customer has the control over the server and this brings in a lot of flexibility to the customer as he can use the server the way he wants to. That being said, there are a number of options /things to be considered while purchasing a dedicated hosting service. You can opt for managed dedicated hosting or unmanaged dedicated hosting. Also, you can have Linux servers or even Windows servers.

Some of the benefits of dedicated hosting –

• You’ll notice better performance as the server resources are not being shared with other users. This results in maximum performance which is much more when compared to the performance of shared hosting accounts.
• As the server is not used by other users, the server is pretty secure as it is only you who has the root access. It is also very easy to install appropriate software to make it more secure.
• We all know that websites are precious and many of us run our business through websites. With dedicated hosting, you can even setup a firewall to make your server and site more secure.
• The server is entirely under your control and so, you can configure it as per your needs. You can install desired software, scripts on it to use it as per your need. You can also upgrade it any time as per your requirement.
• With dedicated hosting, you need not worry whenever your site is under heavy load because of increase in traffic. Shared hosting accounts are usually closed whenever the account consumes more resources and this result in loss of traffic, money and time. These problems are not found in dedicated hosting services.

The price of the dedicated servers varies from company to company and also, on your server specification. If you’ve a high traffic website or a website which is very special to you then opting for a dedicated hosting instead of shared hosting is a wise choice. But, make sure to compare different servers before buying them so as to get the best deal for your money.

This is something that I have been looking forward to for a very long time now—MySpace getting a site redesign. With what can only be described with a finally, it seems that MySpace has realized that its website interface is old and is no longer catchy. Hence a site redesign is definitely long overdue.

Of course we understand why it took this too long for MySpace to realize that it badly needs a more vibrant and interactive site, it is after all the largest social network in terms of worldwide and US unique visitors every month, so its almost like why mess with a good thing.

Expected to start next week, MySpace announced that this is going to be its largest scale re-launch to date, and it will include changing its home page, navigation, profile editing, search and MySpaceTV player facilities. But that’s just for the first phase of the project. MySpace promises more enhancements to come during the summer. In fact MySpace has somehow started this project already when it overhauled the look and feel of its searches, which it claimed to be the in third place based on total number of searches by any site.

Don’t get ahead of us here, Intel isn’t building full-featured Second Life and World of Warcraft apps for handheld Mobile Internet Devices. Instead they’re using a new “Interactive 3D Streaming” tech to control and view the game remotely — similar to some to that Telekinesis app we saw playing WoW on the iphone last year, but Intel seems to be much further along. Their Xeon 5400 server can handle 14 clients simultaneously, but we’re guessing this won’t be cost effective for Blizzard anytime soon — though we can imagine quite a few addicts rigging up similar systems for themselves. The sad news here is that Intel might’ve just discovered the best use for a MID yet.

A new slider style handset from Motorola, the ZN200 has shown its face thanks to the FCC. Having gotten its approval, they let a pretty clear image of the front and back side along with the user manual loose. While the ZN200 appears to be a nice looking handset, it certainly is not going to offer any real competition to the Motorola ZN5 camera phone that we are waiting for.

The ZN200 will be featuring a 2-megapixel camera with 8x digital zoom, video recording, USB connector, Bluetooth, 2.5mm headphone jack, an FM radio, Windows Media Player 11 and will offer dual band GSM (850/1900) support. While the handset is nothing spectacular, it should at least be moderately priced. The one real downfall is that while the display size was not listed, it appears to be rather small.

Of course, while we have seen this come from the FCC, we are still awaiting the official spec and pricing announcement to come from Motorola. Also no word on when this is expected to hit the market.

Dell is on track to deliver 2 new notebooks, one a 8.9″ dubbed the “E” (the Asus Eee challenger), and a 12.1″ super thin one called the “E slim” (the macbook air competitor). The E is between .8″ and 1.2″ thick, weighing only 2.2lbs, and will come with either Win XP or Linux, WiFi, Bluetooth, WiMax!, will run for potentially 5 hrs, but you’ll be limited in the hard drive department (up to 16GB Flash drive).

The E Slim on the other hand is a 12.1″ WXGA machine that doesn’t even break an inch in thickness, and weighs in at 2.6lbs. You can get this outfitted with an SSD drive (up to 8GB) or go with a traditional 40GB. There’s an option to get a 6-cell battery that may last up to 9 hrs (must see to believe).

Starting at $299, and available in quite a selection of colors, expect to see these showing up in the Aug-Sep timeframe, with a 2nd generation showing up in Q2 2009. I’m highly tempted to snag one of these when they arrive, particularly because they will run Linux as well, but I’m a bit wary of the 1GB memory on the E. We’ll see how they test out in the real world.

Sony Ericsson is having a bit of trouble keeping its newest lineup on the down low, but we suppose that’s the price of fame. Most notable of the new crew is the F305 (pictured), which isn’t exactly feature-packed, boasting of mere EDGE speeds, a Memory Stick Micro slot, a 2-inch 176 x 220 display and some music playback features. What sets it apart is a built-in accelerometer for motion controlled games. The game-oriented face buttons are also a perk, but we hope this thing has enough processing power to handle something actually entertaining. The S302 Snapshot is camera-oriented, but only just barely, with a 2 megapixel fixed focus camera, a flash, and PhotoFix software. You can also shoot video, with 20MB of built-in storage, and Memory Stick Micro expansion. Both phones come with A2DP and will be announced on the 17th, according to whoever leaked all this info. The F305 should hit Q3, with the S302 to follow in Q4. Sony Ericsson will also be busting out three stylish but cheap-seeming Bluetooth headsets to accompany these two.

You have to admit. The age at which girls get into revealing high-fashion is becoming younger and younger. At this rate, we’re going to have toddlers wearing low-neck tank tops in the not-so-distant future. And already, we have a company whipping out a pair of tongue-in-cheek joke high heels for babies. But how long before this isn’t a joke?

Heelarious is a company which makes high heeled crib shoes for young ones. Of course, these boots aren’t made for walking, but more for just lounging around in a play pen or crib, tapping their toes and waiting for their next bottle feeding. The Heelarious heels are made pretty fragile. The weight of a baby standing up in them would apparently crack the heel in half.

The Heelarious site also has a disclaimer, “WARNING: May cause extreme smiling and hysterical laughter when in use (this is completely normal).” Though we’re yet to find any warnings about baby’s stabbing themselves in the eyes or choking on the extended heel. So we’ll just assume these high heel crib shoes are completely safe.

In order to hook up your up and coming fashionista of a daughter (or son, we suppose) with these Heelarious crib shoes, you’ll need to pay $35, plus any future psychiatric charges for your child after they learn of the horrible torture you put them through as infants.

A massive new online business is scheduled to launch on July 11: Apple’s App Store - an online hub for third party iPhone and ipod Touch applications.

Beginning later this month, developers will begin to upload apps to the store accessible by iPhone users or to a new section of the iTunes Store, sharing revenue from app sales with Apple in a 70/30 split. These apps will be in addition to the 1,700-odd apps already developed for the iPhone’s Safari web browser.

One of the games people are looking forward to playing is Super Money Ball. Sega’s Ethan Einhorn showed off Super Monkey Ball on stage at the WWDC. According to Einhorn, after 8 weeks of development, the developers have created 110 stages.

The new 3G, GPS-enabled iPhone should open up a world of possibilities for clever developers in the realms of gaming, entertainment and enterprise applications.

In related news, the AOL Radio app for the iPhone won for Best Entertainment Application at the 2008 Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), providing users free access to over 350 online radio stations (including 150 local CBS radio stations) and more than 200 AOL Radio channels.
